If you are an aspiring filmmaker, this contest is for you. Capture the spirit of 100% Pure New Zealand through a 3-minute script for video and you might be one of the five finalists who will be flown to New Zealand to shoot a short film with Barrie Osborne. Plus, you just might catch the attention of award-winning director Peter Jackson.
Mechanics
- Write a 3-minute screenplay on how you would capture the spirit of 100% Pure New Zealand – the youngest country on earth.
- Pitch your idea by uploading it to Your Big Break. It would be best if you have supporting materials such as footage (there are footages available on the website), storyboard, narratives, etc.
- Submit your entry by January 15, 2010.
The contest has 2 stages. For Stage 1, 5 entries will be selected: 1 through viewer’s choice and 4 through an expert panel. The 5 individuals will be flown to Queensland, New Zealand from their country of origin on January 18. They will then be Wellington where they will be given NZD$100,000 to complete the film within 3 weeks. Stage 2 will commence on February 22 where Peter Jackson will judge the 5 short films. The winning film will be broadcast in the US.
You still have 2 weeks to make a pitch. The complete rules may be found here.
