Hands On Manila, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing members with diverse, flexible volunteer opportunities that address the needs of the community, is currently holding Volunteer Chronicles 2, a writing competition for non-professional writers. The contest is open to anyone over the age of 16 who wishes to write about his volunteer work experience outside of his province/country.

Prizes

First Prize: P5,000 worth Powerbooks Gift Cards + Free trip for two (2) to Boracay via SEAir + Free Accommodations for two nights at Punta Rosa Resort + an opportunity to do a Hands On Volunteer Vacations project in Aklan

Second Prize: P3,000 worth Powerbooks Gift Cards + Free trip for two (2) to Bohol via Cebu Pacific + Free Accommodations for two nights at Amarela Resort + an opportunity to do a Hands On Volunteer Vacations project in Bohol

Third Prize: P2,000 worth Powerbooks Gift Cards + Free Accommodations for two (2) at Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay + an opportunity to do a Hands On Volunteer Vacations project in Laguna or Batangas

Mechanics

1. Write a short story or essay about your true volunteer vacation experience. It should be written in English, double-spaced on 8.5″ x 11″ bond paper, in font size 12. The author’s real name must not appear in the entry.
2. Each entry should have a minimum of 1,000 words and a maximum of 2,000 words.
3. Download the Official Entry Form and Authorization Form or grab them from any Powerbooks branches, fill them up and seal them in a letter size envelope. The title and author’s name should be written on the envelope.
4. In a brown envelope, include a print-out of your essay, a soft copy of it (CD or floppy disk), and the envelope containing the 2 forms.
5. Submit your entry to any Powerbooks branches or mail them to Powerbooks Head Office, #25 Brixton St., Capitol Subdivision, Pasig City before November 1, 2009.
